Sock Puppets, Family and Finishing the Second Draft
October 11, 2016 | Back
So I was perusing Facebook last week and I ran across a video my brother had posted. It was great and I have to share it with you. If you like Metallica and you like parodies then I′m sure you′re going to be just as happy a camper as I was. Of all the videos that people can make, some people make some pretty stupid ones, but someone got the idea of making music videos of sock puppets singing parodied versions of heavy metal songs, like Metallica′s Master of Puppets in the video below which they call Master of Sock Puppets. Enjoy!
Watch the Sock Puppet Parody of Metallica′s "Master of Puppets". You′ll love it!
Now that you′ve enjoyed that bit of hilarious goodness, we can move on.
Down here in North Carolina where the weather can switch between Summer and Winter from day-to-day we finally have entered fall! Not just the season, but actual fall temperatures, and that makes me happier than I can express. I hate hot weather and I hate sweating. Fortunately it′s been around 60 to 70 degrees at various points through the day since the weekend and I′m eating it up. I′m looking forward to maybe even spending a few evenings on the back porch doing some editing. What better way to edit a book based around Halloween and the cold than to edit it on a cool autumn evening.
Speaking of the weekend, I was able to go back to my hometown this weekend and spend some time with the family. My little sister, who just got her permit, even drove me all the way from here in Concord up to Lenoir, though I think she was none too excited about having to drive on the interstate. It seems that 70mph is faster than she wanted to go only a few days after getting that permit. I was just excited to be sitting in the passenger seat and letting her drive. One of the nice things about going home is getting to talk politics with my dad. As some of you may know, my first degree is in Political Science, and I do have an opinion on the subject. I just don′t talk about it much because it′s just one of those topics that few people can discuss rather than yell or deride. So, it′s nice to get to have a good little friendly political conversation with my dad, even if my sister hates it. I let her drive, she′ll have to deal with it. Haha. Of course staying up late talking about everything under the sun with my mom is always great even though it tends to deprive me of much needed sleep.
Yet, now I′m back in Concord and back to writing. And I′m focusing this week. As long as everything goes as planned, cross your fingers, I should finish the second draft of To Watch You Bleed on Friday or Saturday! I′m so excited to get to this point. It′s crazy just to have finished the first draft, but now to be this close to finishing the second is awesome. Next, I′ll be passing it on to my beta readers who will then tear it apart and help me put together an even better story.
It won′t be long and it′ll be out and hopefully in your hands! In the meantime, be sure to pick up a copy of They′ll Call It Treason if you haven′t already. Also, don′t forget to come visit me at my next book signing event at The Book Lady in Monroe, NC on October 15.
And for your viewing pleasure, another hilarious sock puppet video, this time parodying Pantera′s song Walk.
